Alex W. Hart is a consultant in consumer financial services, specializing in emerging payment and distribution systems. His particular focus is the Internet and e-commerce and their impact on the consumer banking industry.
Until October of 1997, he served as Chief Executive Officer of Advanta Corporation, a diversified financial services company. Prior to joining Advanta, Pete was President and Chief Executive Officer of MasterCard International from 1988 to 1994. Concurrently, he also served as Chairman of the Board of Maestro International, the worldwide debit system, and was a member of the board of Europay International.
Before joining MasterCard, Pete spent ten years at First Interstate Bancorp. He joined as President and Chief Executive Officer of First Interstate Services Company, the system-wide technology and operations subsidiary. In 1981, he was named Executive Vice President, responsible for consumer banking and operations at this multistate bank holding company since acquired by Wells Fargo. While there, he became the founding Chairman of the Board of the CIRRUS System, the global network of shared automated teller machines now owned by MasterCard International.
His prior experience includes General Manager of the Card Service Group at the First National Bank of Chicago, and Director of Marketing at BancOhio.
Pete serves on the Board of Directors of Sanchez Computer Associates, Ethentica, Inc., 4anything.com, HNC Software, Presideo, Retek Inc and Destiny Solutions and is on the advisory board of the Internet Capital Group, eHarmony, Qpass, NetGen and Onvia.com. He also serves as chairman of e-PROFILE.com, the market leader among outsourcing providers of direct banking services.
Pete graduated from Harvard University in 1962. He completed studies at the Graduate School of Bank Marketing at the University of Colorado and the Graduate Program for Data Processing Management at Harvard Business School. He resides in Radnor, Pennsylvania. |
