Alec has more than 32 years of service in procurement, quality and supplier development. His roles have included Executive Director of Worldwide Purchasing and Order to Delivery, Executive Director (Tokyo), Executive Director of Global Supplier Quality and Development, Group Director of Purchasing and Quality for GM Small Car Operations, Vice President of Purchasing/Supplier Quality for Saturn Corporation, Manager of Materials Management Powertrain Operations for Saturn and Purchasing Agent for GM Spain. Alec is fluent in Portuguese, Spanish, Russian and Ukrainian. Alec is an expert in operations improvement and crisis management, he is a skilled negotiator who can resolve complex situations while delivering solutions. He has demonstrated performance in supply chain management, alliance management, turnaround operations, recruiting and team development. Professional Experience Prior to BBK, Alec served GM as Executive Director of Worldwide Purchasing and Order to Delivery. In this position he directed day-to-day operations while improving a bankrupt supplier’s performance with GM. The focus was on manufacturing, launch execution, production control, quality, constraint management and communications. He partnered with the CEO/COO to consolidate operations, ensuring successful product launches while achieving the plant’s schedule and quality requirements. Alec improved the company-wide manufacturing capacity utilization 20%, improved material delivery schedules 30%, reduced premium shipments 100%, achieved a cost reduction goal of 3% and reduced quality discrepancy incidents by 60%. As Executive Director in Tokyo, Alec directed 17 team members from various GM global operations. He supported Isuzu’s turnaround, partnering with Isuzu’s Executive VP’s of Engineering, Manufacturing and Purchasing Operations to form a continuous improvement team. In this position Alec achieved 5% annual material savings, generated cost reduction improvements ranging from 6 to 23%, reduced shipping costs 15%, improved lead times by 20%, and achieved an investment reduction of 35%. Prior to Tokyo, Alec served as Executive Director of Global Supplier Quality and Development. In this position he directed global supplier quality activities to ensure quality, warranty and timely product launches. He reduced discrepancies 60%, plant spills 35%, reduced the staff 28% and ultimately saved the organization $150 million in two years. As Group Director of Purchasing and Quality for GM Small Car Operations he directed procurement and supplier quality activities with an annual purchase value of $14 billion. In this position Alec reduced resources 35%, achieved material cost reduction of 3% and achieved 12% in savings by centralizing purchases of common commodities. As Vice President of Purchasing and Supplier Quality for Saturn Corporation, Alec directed procurement activities with an annual purchase budget of $7 billion. The primary materials purchased included machinery, equipment, information technology, services and marketing programs. |
