Alan is the retired President of Premier, Inc., a strategic alliance of over 1,700 hospitals and health systems in the US. Alan formed Premier in 1995 by merging Premier Health Alliance, where he had served as CEO and President, with AmHS and SunHealth. While at Premier, Alan increased the alliance’s group purchasing of goods and services to over $12 billion annually and expanded Premier’s services to include management engineering consultation, benchmarking, technology assessment, insurance programs, and biomedical engineering.

During his three-decade career in healthcare, Alan has focused on developing startup businesses providing services to hospitals through shared programs intended to achieve greater economies of scale.

Alan has a BA from Allegheny College, an MBA from Cornell University. He currently serves on the board of the American International Health Alliance.
