Alan is the former CEO of three Silicon Valley start-up companies and earlier served as the COO of a national cable television company with more than $200 million in annual sales. Alan began his career as a journalist, rising to top editing positions at the Chicago Sun-Times and the San Francisco Chronicle. In 1988, he joined InterMedia Partners, a start-up that grew through acquisition to become the nation’s 12th largest cable TV system operator. In 1996, he was recruited as CEO by Best Internet Communications, an innovative Internet service provider subsequently acquired by NTT. He later served as chief executive of Instant Objects, a pioneer in online classified advertising and e-commerce, and SealedMedia, the producer of a digital rights management system that eventually was acquired by Oracle. An active independent investor, he has served on the boards of several start-up companies. |
