Alan Johnson was born in London in 1955. He joined Unilever in 1975 as a finance trainee. He is a chartered certified accountant and a member of the British Institute of Management.
Between 1975 and 1983 held various management positions inthe Internal Audit function in the UK and Brazil. He was appointed Chief Accountant of the UK industrial detergents business until 1985 and worked in Nigeria from 1985 to 1987.
Between 1987 and 1991 Alan worked as vice president finance in the UK meat business and in the Food & Drinks Co-ordination in Rotterdam. From 1991 to 1995 he was Finance Director of Lever Brothers, the UK detergents business and then moved to Paris as senior vice president finance of the Personal Products Europe business group in Paris.
From 1996 until 1999 we was senior vice president, Investor Relations. In 1999 he moved to Belgium as senior vice president finance, Home and Personal Care Europe Business Group, a position he held until 2002. He was appointed senior vice president finance of the global Ice Cream and Frozen Foods Business Group based in Rotterdam. In 2004 he was appointed senior vice president finance for Unilever’s Foods Division, a position he held until his appointment as chief auditor.
Alan is married with one daughter. His interests include theatre, golf and exploring Italy with his family. |
