Alan Chow is chief technology officer for NCR Corporation. In this position, he is responsible for research and development and leading a cross-business unit product management team for NCR’s broader self-service business.
Previously, Chow was vice president of NCR’s Payment Solutions organization that provides imaged-based services, such as check-image processing, to the finance and retail industries. Previously, Chow led the research and development organization of NCR’s Teradata division.
Chow began his technology career in 1975 as a programmer at the University of California, Los Angeles (UCLA) Medical Center. He joined Teradata Corporation in 1981 before it was acquired by NCR in 1992. He worked as one of the original Teradata database software engineers that pioneered the development of the data warehouse industry.
After completing the development of the original Teradata system, Chow was named to positions of increasing responsibility, including Teradata’s vice president of research and development.
Chow received a bachelor’s degree in computer science from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology and earned a master’s degree in computer science from UCLA. He also holds a master of business administration degree from Pepperdine University. |
