Alan Z. Yudkowsky’s practice primarily focuses on climate change, energy commodities, insolvency matters, and related general and complex commercial litigation.
Mr. Yudkowsky, who is chair of Stroock’s Climate Change Practice and its Los Angeles Energy Practice Group, regularly counsels companies regarding state, regional and federal greenhouse gas legislation and regulatory schemes, including industry-specific emission reduction requirements and compliance, cap-and-trade programs, voluntary and compliance market carbon offsets, carbon due diligence, and the benefits of early action.
He also advises energy trading companies regarding contract disputes, insolvency and restructuring issues, litigation, and regulatory matters. He has acted as counsel to major energy marketers and traders in connection with numerous class actions and suits brought in state and federal court arising out of California’s energy crisis. He was a member of the Official Committee of Participant Creditors in the California Power Exchange Corporation bankruptcy case, and has represented creditors in the bankruptcy cases of leading energy companies.
Mr. Yudkowsky also has appeared in a number of proceedings before the California Public Utilities Commission and the Federal Energy Regulatory Commission, and has acted as counsel in connection with investigations by various state and federal administrative agencies and by members of the California state legislature. Over the years, he has litigated matters at both the trial and appellate levels.
Mr. Yudkowsky speaks frequently on industry panels, including at various Platts' conferences. He also is co-chair of the Firm’s Los Angeles office pro bono practice. |
