Carl M. Freeman Companies, Alan Adamson directs legal policy and oversees the Company’s in-house legal team. Alan supports each of the Company’s operating divisions, utilizing his 12 years of real estate experience to provide expert legal guidance on all aspects of the business including acquisition and development, leasing and property management, financing, and real estate and mortgage brokerage activities. Prior to joining the Freeman Companies in 2005, while he was Vice President & Associate General Counsel at CarrAmerica Realty Corporation, Alan managed the establishment of a $500 million line of credit with a restructuring accordion feature for the company, and then led the complete tax restructuring of the company, a multi-million dollar effort which included converting the company to an Umbrella Partnership Real Estate Investment Trust (UPREACH), restructuring the traditional debt, gaining consent from all of the bond holders, and restructuring many of the company’s partnerships. Alan started his legal career as a real estate law associate in the Baltimore office of Ballard Spahr Andrews & Ingersoll, LLP, a large Philadelphia-based law firm. He also spent two years at Federal Realty Investment Trust, a national retail shopping center owner. Alan earned a bachelor’s of arts degree in English from the University of Delaware and his received his Juris Doctor from the University of Maryland Law School in Baltimore, Maryland. He is a member of the Corporate Counsel Association of America. |
