Alan has significant expertise in cross-border restructuring of U.S. and European business and has been involved in several turnarounds involving European subsidiary companies of U.S. companies either in bank workout or Chapter 11. He has significant expertise in managing the complex issues facing U.S. and European managements in preserving enterprise value while managing in the zone of insolvency. He is a frequent speaker on cross border restructuring issues and has written several articles on the subject.
Professional Experience
Alan began his career spending 11 years with Arthur Andersen in the U.K. and France. He subsequently spent 18 years in senior executive positions with leading international capital goods manufacturers. Alan began as a turnaround practitioner in 1994 undertaking the turnaround and MBI of the Lynton Group in the U.K. He was European CRO of Pelikan Hardcopy International, a Swiss subsidiary of a U.S. company in workout with operations in Germany, U.K., the Czech Republic and China; he played a key role in the company's avoiding premature bankruptcy filing. Alan was CRO of Clark Material Handling Europe with operations in Germany, Spain and France and was president of Bio-tek Instruments, an Italian company in workout with operations in U.K., Germany, France and Switzerland. He has significant European auto supply industry experience with Fori Eurotec, Venture Peguform, Metal Castings, Dura Automotive and Collins and Aikman.
Alan has been Vice President, Europe, of Grove Cranes; a main board director of Lansing Bagnall Group; President Directeur General of Saxby Manutention SA, France; and Group Managing Director of Simon Access International. He has substantial experience in operations, manufacturing, strategic planning, marketing and finance and is fluent in French.
