Alan Stein joined JMP Securities as a Senior Managing Director in September 2004.
Prior to joining JMP, Alan was a partner at Weston Presidio, a private equity firm, from 1997 to 2004. From 1982 to 1995, he was a Senior Managing Director, Executive Director of Investment Banking and a member of the Executive Committee at Montgomery Securities. In 1981 and 1982, Alan served as Associate Dean - Executive Education at the Walter Haas School of Business, University of California, Berkeley. In March 1978, he was appointed Secretary of the Business, Transportation and Housing Agency for the State of California and served in that capacity until October 1980. Alan began his career in 1954 with Goldman Sachs and retired as a general partner in 1976.
Alan founded and is presently Chairman of the Board of Bridge Housing Corporation, a non-profit affordable housing development group. He is also Trustee of the California College of the Arts and is Chairman Emeritus of the Board of Trustees of the American Conservatory Theater.
Alan received a B.A. at Columbia College and an M.B.A. at the Harvard Graduate School of Business Administration. |
