Alan J. Kreczko is executive vice president and general counsel of The Hartford, a position he was elected to in June 2007. In his current position, Kreczko is responsible for the company's legal department and government affairs organization.
Kreczko joined The Hartford in September 2003 as senior vice president and deputy general counsel where he oversaw the law department's property and casualty, life, investment and compliance units.
Prior to joining The Hartford, he held various senior positions within the United States Government. Until 2002, he was the acting Assistant Secretary of State for Population, Refugees and Migration, where he led the State Department's response to humanitarian crises in conflict situations, including Afghanistan, Timor, Sudan and West Africa. Prior to that position, he had served as Legal Advisor to President Clinton's National Security Council.
He has also served as Deputy General Counsel to the Department of State and as legal advisor to the President of the United States' personal representatives for Middle East negotiations.
He earned his J.D. from University of Michigan Law School and a B.A. from Boston College.
Kreczko has authored several publications, including an article on humanitarian assistance in Afghanistan. He is a member of the board for the American Red Cross Charter Oak Chapter. |
