Alfred Yu joined ChoiceStream as Vice President of Research and Development in December 2005. Al has over 26 years of technical and managerial experience in various disciplines in engineering, algorithmic development and system design. Prior to joining ChoiceStream, Al was a technical director at AOL for the Multimedia Technology team responsible for image/video/audio/speech compression, multimedia streaming and voice projects. Prior to this, he was the Senior Director of R&D developing compression algorithms at Johnson Grace Company, which was acquired by AOL in 1996. Before that, Al was the Vice President of Engineering at UVC, a video conferencing company. Al’s technical experience in DSP, image processing and telecommunication was acquired during his years with Philips Ultrasound and CMC. Al holds patents in data, image and speech compression. He received an MSEE from California State University, Long Beach. |
