Ahsan A. Shaikh is an associate in the law firm of McDermott Will & Emery LLP based in the Orange County office. He is a member of the Intellectual Property, Media & Technology Department.
Ahsan's practice encompasses the preparation and prosecution of patent applications, with considerable involvement in both patent and copyright licensing matters.
His experience includes the representation of companies in the e-commerce, computer software and hardware industries as well as medical device manufacturers.
Ahsan earned his B.A. in computer science with honors from the University of California at Berkeley. He earned his J.D. from the University of Chicago Law School. Prior to practicing law, Ahsan gained practical computer industry experience in software coding and web-development by working as a web designer at Cisco Systems.
He now concentrates his intellectual property practice on technology relating to the computer software and hardware arts, the internet, and specifically the video game/interactive entertainment software and open source software industries, topics for which he is a regular presenter. Ahsan has prosecuted many video game patents and written several articles on the legal issues faced by the video game industry including "Entertainment Value" which appeared in the April 17 edition of the San Francisco Daily Journal. He is also a member of the American Bar Association's Special Committee on Computer Gaming and Virtual Worlds.
Ahsan is admitted to the California State Bar.
