As a member of Pierce Atwood's Real Estate Practice Group, Adam's practice involves all aspects of commercial real estate law, including land use, development, acquisition, leasing, financing, and title work. Adam is active with MEREDA, the Maine Real Estate & Development Association, a group founded in 1985 to represent the interests of Maine’s commercial real estate industry to lawmakers and other government officials. Adam currently serves as a member of MEREDA’s Legislative Committee, which focuses on tracking bills before the Maine Legislature relating to the real estate industry. Adam also has a background in domestic and international energy-related matters. Prior to joining the Real Estate Practice Group, Adam’s practice involved the state and federal regulation of electric transmission and distribution utilities, as well as various generating facilities with a particular emphasis on renewable energy matters. He also practiced in the firm’s International Department, with an emphasis on overseas energy sector restructuring, reform and privatization issues. In that regard, Adam has worked in Albania, Bosnia and Croatia, assisting those countries in drafting legislation to restructure their energy sectors. Before joining Pierce Atwood in 2001, Adam was a Bernstein Fellow and served as law clerk to the judges of the York County (Maine) District Court. Before turning to law, he was an elected representative to the Town of Sanford, voting on issues including school funding, land and property taxes, zoning ordinances and town budgeting. |
