Achim Welter is the business solution architect of Fiserv’s Healthcare Banking & Payments division including the CareGain solution set. He is responsible for the strategic direction of the product and solution portfolio. In his previous role at CareGain as vice president product management, he was responsible for the strategic direction and marketing of CareGain’s products and solutions. Prior to joining Fiserv, Achim served as acting chief technology officer, supporting the transformation of Book Club Associates’ (BCA) IT organization. BCA, headquartered in London, UK, is a subsidiary of Bertelsmann AG. Achim began his career at Bertelsmann’s internal IT consulting house in Germany as a consultant in the publishing industry, moving on to multi-media project manager and international projects manager in the areas of online services, e-commerce, and digital TV. In 1998 he moved to New York to build an e-commerce platform for Bertelsmann AG that was later used by subsidiaries of Bertelsmann worldwide. He then joined Bookspan, a direct marketing company partnership of Time Inc. and Bertelsmann AG, as vice president of e-commerce. He was later appointed acting chief information officer. In these roles, he managed the consolidation of multiple IT groups, the launch of a new e-commerce platform and its newly founded SAP Software organization. Prior to joining Bertelsmann AG, Achim served as an Officer in the German Armed Forces. He left the army with a rank of first lieutenant. Achim has a master’s degree in computer science from the University of the German Armed Forces in Munich, Germany. He is currently enrolled in the Executive MBA program of the Wharton School of Business. |
