Abdul H. Rana received his Ph.D. in engineering in 1977 and has 25 years of business, engineering and product development experience in telecommunications, and information systems. In his current role at SkyBitz, he is responsible for all technical matters and product development. Prior to joining SkyBitz, he was CTO & Senior Vice President, Strategic Development at Arrowhead Global Solutions. He also held positions directing the operations functions for Arrowhead, including Capture, Program Management, P&L, and the Engineering and Service Management Centers. He has extensive technical and business experience in satellite and cellular communications, information systems and data networks. Prior to joining Arrowhead, Dr. Rana held several leadership positions in engineering, product management and management consulting for domestic and international organizations in wireless data applications. As chief architect, he led the architecture and development of voice activated products and services for VeriSign. As Vice President of Product Management and Marketing at Paradigm4, he provided leadership for wireless data products and services for public and enterprise customers. Dr. Rana was Senior Vice President of Engineering and Product Management at ORBCOMM, leading programs for global wireless data and messaging services based on Low Earth Orbit satellites and packet networks. He has held several positions at GTE in the areas of product development, engineering, and program management for satellite and terrestrial communications. At GTE, he was recognized four times with the GTE Leslie Warner Award, GTE’s highest technical honor, and received two President’s Awards for personal technical and professional achievements. Dr. Rana has held technical and management positions at COMSAT Labs and ENSCO Incorporated in the areas of satellite communications and signal processing. He has over 30 publications in professional journals to his credit, is a member of IEEE and was Technical editor of IEEE Transactions on Aerospace and Electronic Systems for several years. |
