Zan F. Calhoun is Chief Information Officer (CIO) of HealthCare Partners. Mr. Calhoun’s responsibilities encompass defining and implementing the strategic information technology (IT) decisions necessary to support HealthCare Partners into the future. His expertise will apply especially to three areas: clinical support, financial systems, and administrative services.
Mr. Calhoun was formerly president of OAO Healthcare Solutions, Inc., and has a distinguished history in healthcare information technology in both payer and provider segments of the industry. He specialized in realizing ROI-based improvements, defining and achieving strategic goals, conceiving and executing new products, and developing innovative approaches to health plan and hospital operations. Prior to his work at OAO Healthcare Solutions, Inc., Mr. Calhoun was director of the commercial health care consulting practice of BearingPoint (KPMG Consulting). He had previously served eight years as a partner/vice president responsible for the National Managed Care Group at Cap Gemini Ernst & Young (CGE&Y). Mr. Calhoun was a co-founder of First Consulting Group, serving as CEO for 11 years. He began his career in health care by spending eight years with Arthur Andersen and Co.
A certified public accountant, Mr. Calhoun holds a BS degree in finance and an MBA. He is the author of Integrating Health Information Systems: A Strategic Development Approach for PHO's and Other Physician Hospital Alliances. He has authored numerous articles and taught workshops on healthcare information systems at UCLA, Harvard and CalState Long Beach. |
