Mr. Mineta was appointed as a director of Horizon Lines Inc. in December of 2006. Mr. Mineta is currently Vice Chairman of Hill & Knowlton a communications consultancy. Mr. Mineta served as U.S. Secretary of Transportation from 2001 to 2006 and as U.S. Secretary of Commerce from 2000 to 2001. Prior to joining the Cabinet he was vice president of Lockheed Martin and the chair of the National Civil Aviation Review Commission. From 1975 to 1995 Mr. Mineta served in the U.S. House of Representatives representing the San Jose California area. While a member of Congress he chaired the Surface Transportation Subcommittee from 1989 to 1991 and the House Public Works and Transportation Committee from 1992 to 1994. After serving in the U.S. Army as an intelligence officer Mr. Mineta served as a member of the San Jose City Council from 1967 to 1971 and as mayor of San Jose from 1971 to 1974. He is a graduate of the University of California at Berkeley's School of Business Administration. |
